Sterling Insurance Group makes donation to disaster recovery organization in wake of deadly Houghton County floods
On June 17th, Houghton County was one of several areas of the western Upper Peninsula that was hit by severe flooding that left one dead. The storms were powerful enough to wash out roads, houses, and power lines; prompting Gov. Rick Snyder to declare a “state of disaster.”
Sterling Insurance group employees quickly rallied and organized to find a meaningful way to support their neighbors in the North. Sterling Insurance Group’s philanthropy group – the Sterling Cares Committee – came together to make the decision to support one organization leading the way on recovery efforts in the wake of the floods: Copper Country Strong. Between a company donation and individual employee donations, Sterling Insurance Group was able to make a donation of $400.
