Back to school

Sterling Insurance Group hosted its Annual School Supplies Drive, which wrapped up Monday, August 27th. This morning, Sterling gave a portion of the school supplies they gathered during the Drive to Helping Hands Gifts – a wonderful organization based out of Shelby Township, Michigan.

The supplies donated today will go to West Utica schools and Roseville schools, among others.

About Helping Hands Gifts

In 2017, Helping Hands Gifts served more than 5,000 children in the Metro Detroit area. As stated on their website, Helping Hands Gifts assists Southeastern Michigan in the following ways:

“We CONNECT businesses with opportunities to give products or services to charities, families, and those in need.

We SUPPORT charities through finding donations, volunteers, building space, event promotion, and more.

We INFORM the public about the good that businesses and charities are doing.

In addition to our core work, we focus each year on a critical problem that impacts our local communities.

  • 2018 – Opioid Epidemic
  • 2019 – Human Trafficking
  • 2020 – Suicide”

Last year, a portion of Sterling Insurance Group’s school supplies also went to Helping Hands Gifts. It’s an organization greatly admired throughout the company.

Where does the rest of it go?

An employee of Sterling’s daughter, who teaches in an underprivileged school in the Greater Battle Creek area, has accepted the remaining school supplies Sterling gathered. The supplies is being sent to her Labor Day weekend – just in time for school to start next week.

Thank you for participating!

Thank you to all clients and Sterling employees who brought in supplies for our Annual School Supplies Drive! This year was a huge success. We had a table in our breakroom overflowing with everything from markers, to post-it notes, to gently used back packs. Amazing work!

Giving back is part of our DNA at Sterling, and this donation means the world to us.

We hope this school year is great for students across Michigan!
